Best Android Apps

QR Code - scan to download Winamp – I have been using Winamp since before version 1.0, before Nullsoft sold out to AOL. To AOLs credit they haven’t totally ruined Winamp, in fact they have even made a version for Android which is just as good as the desktop version. HTC Desire HD $89 a month. Being able to listen to streaming internet radio on the go, priceless.

QR Code - scan to download Train Trapper – Having a train time table is handy but it’s like sitting on a pin, a pain in the arse because it’s one extra thing you have to carry, it’s made of paper so it’s not that robust and is susceptible to getting lost. Which is why Train Trapper is so good because it’s none of those things, it’s a train time table on your phone. The great thing about Train Trapper is that you can tell it what station you are at, what train line you are on and whether you are travelling inbound or outbound and it will tell you when the next train is due. Now you can tell if you have enough time to have another beer at the pub before walking to the station to catch the train.

QR Code - scan to download Footyinfo – Is great for when your not near a TV or radio but still want to know what the footy scores are. Footyinfo will tell you, it also has the ladder, news and stats. Quite a handy little app.

QR Code - scan to download BatteryLife – Can you guess what it does? Being able to see how much battery you have is probably pretty important to a lot of people. Battery Life shows you in a visually pleasing way how much battery you have left, it also shows you other useful information about your battery like the temperature. It’s even got a colour mode so you can set different colours for different battery levels like green, amber and red.

QR Code - scan to download Perfect System Monitor – Being a geek I like to have a bunch of metrics available for my system so I can see how it’s performing and if I need to tweak it. Perfect System monitor shows you a bunch of different metrics like RAM usage, storage usage, battery level, power usage, CPU usage, CPU speed, battery temprature and a bunch of other useful information.

QR Code - scan to download Google Goggles – Lets you search the internet with images, take a photo and Google Goggles will find it.

QR Code - scan to download Astrid – It’s only the best to do list ever. It even has widgets (that you have to pay for) that let you display your to do list on your home screen.
