This game is part of the reason why I’m a bit tiered right now. It’s an easy simple game but so addictive! I don’t know why it just is. Click and hold the mouse button to shoot a grappling hook that you use to swing from block to block. The aim is to get as far as you can without falling onto the spikes below.. Warning, don’t play this at work! Play Pendulumeca.

We have all seen and heard of visual illusions. They fuck with your mind, I know they make my head feel weird. Think Mc Escher. But have you ever heard of a auditory illusion? The McGurk effect is just that, an auditory illusion where our brains hear a different noise if it’s presented with evidence that something else is being said.

Super Meat Boy

I had herd somewhere about this Meat Boy… so I Googled it and found the awesome Meat Boy flash game. I played it, I loved it. Then I discovered that Meat Boy was being made into a real game and it’s called Super Meat Boy. Basically it’s a platformer where you, a wad of meat, try to save your girlfriend from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux. It’s due out on Steam on November 30, but in the mean time checkout the Super Meat Boy web site for all sorts of awesomeness.

The WWW is not the internet!

Having worked for an ISP in sales I was amazed that our customers don’t know what the internet really is. They think that the internet is just the World Wide Web, probably because they only browse the ‘web’ and send/receive emails. Sometimes I feel like I am getting dumbed down. So this is a general public service announcement.
There is a great episode of The IT Crowd (season 3 episode 4) where Jen wins Employee of the month. In the episode Jen borrows the internet for her speech. Hilarity ensures. I imagine that there are some people that would really believe that.
The internet isn’t the WWW. The WWW is a service that runs over the internet like File Transfer Protocol (FTP), multi player games, BBS’s (back in the day), BitTorent, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), or e-mail.

Sneakernet

Shopping online

The internet was never built for online shopping but as the internet evolved a bunch of smart people discovered that the internet is a great place to set up a shop. You can sell stuff all over the world, you save a bunch of money because you don’t need a store. You can be open 24/7 which means you can be doing business while you sleep!
And people love online shopping. I sure do, I buy a bunch of stuff online from computer parts to books, games, clothes, and all sorts of shit-nacks. The thing that I love about the internet is that I can find and buy things that I would never find locally.
